Green Building Projects
All buildings use resources such as land, water, energy, materials and time to fulfill the functional needs of a space over an extended period of time and leave impacts on the environment. As such, there can be no buildings without environmental impact. However, buildings can be designed to keep the impact of buildings within the carrying capacity of the local environment.
In such cases, successive generations can continue to benefit the same quality of environment where they inhabit. Such buildings and the manner of construction and operation are called green buildings. A building is green when it is resource-efficient and fulfills the functional requirement of the space with minimum negative impact on the environment over the longest possible time.
We are documenting such attempts in India corresponding to different functional needs of spaces. Keep checking the page as we keep adding more and more case studies. If you know of other examples which could be added here. Please suggest in the comments column below and we will be happy to consider them.
Indian giants team up for green hydrogen projects
Domestic companies have signed a binding term sheet for joint venture aimed at developing the nascent green hydrogen sector in India
Indian engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T), state-owned player Indian Oil Corporation (IndianOil) and renewables major ReNew Power have formed a joint venture to develop green hydrogen projects across the country.
The trio signed a binding term sheet for the formation of the joint venture, aimed at developing the nascent green hydrogen sector in India, L&T said.
IndianOil and L&T also signed a separate deal to form a joint venture to manufacture and sell electrolysers to be used in the production of green hydrogen.
L&T said the joint venture will build on the group’s own design and execution capabilities, IndianOil’s expertise in refining and ReNew’s ability in “offering and developing utility-scale renewable energy solutions”.
Indian companies are aggressively scaling up their hydrogen capabilities, with two of the country’s largest private-sector giants — Reliance Industries and the Adani Group — promising to spend billions of dollars on future hydrogen and renewable projects.
