1. According to Australia’s latest communication on

its National Determined Contribution, the country’s objectives are to “overachieve” its 2030 target, which is set at a 26 to 28% reduction in emissions against 2005. The latest communication states that the aspiration is to achieve net zero emissions as soon as possible. However, this objective is not compatible with the goals of the Paris Agreement for a country like Australia especially given its potential clean energy resources. To meet its objectives, Australia has a “Technology Investment Roadmap” to drive down the cost of deploying new and emerging technologies to substitute higher emissions technologies and practices with other such as clean hydrogen, energy storage, low carbon materials, carbon capture and storage and soil carbon. To protect our wildlife and halt extinction, the Green Australia Plan will invest

$1.8 billion over four years to restore habitat, regenerate forest and bushland, coastal areas and rivers and reclaim green spaces in our cities and suburbs. Green Australia will create 10,240 direct and 17,740 indirect new jobs, and protect the most precious parts of Australia’s flora, fauna, land and sea forever. greeneconomytracker.org/country/Australia.
