Argentina has announced its aim to set a net zero CO2 target (“carbon neutrality”) by 2050 in its Second NDC of 2020 (Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostainable, 2020). The Government of Argentina is expected to provide more information as part of their submission of a Long-Term Strategy (LTS) at COP26. In December 2020, Argentina committed to reaching Net Zero by 2050 along with a new interim absolute emissions reduction target that would limit emissions to 359MtCO2e annually by 2030, 25 percent lower than its previous target set in 2016.1 It has established a national climate change council, an information system to track greenhouse gas emissions and committed to zero net deforestation by 2030. Argentina is 22nd in net zero index. https://climateactiontracker.org/countries/argentina/net-zero- targets . https://home.kpmg/xx/en/home/insights/2021/09/nzri- html .
