our story

At Mumbai Sustainability Centre we believe that supporting cities in their sustainability goals is the key to outcome. We are a small organisation which has a disproportionate amount of experience and ambition based on the personal work and endeavours of its founders – from advocacy and activism to measurement and practice.

Is Mumbai a sustainable city

India’s largest metropolis doesn’t exactly fit the mould of a green city – its poor air quality is comparable to Shanghai’s, while a lack of planned land use and a 20.6 million populace make it the world’s sixth most populated city, and one of its most densely populated too.

Is Mumbai socially sustainable

New Delhi and Mumbai are two of the least sustainable cities in the world: Research. The leading metropolises of our country, one the capital and the other its financial hub, have been ranked among the bottom five in a study conducted by a Dutch company, Arcadis.
